Post What sub would you choose?

I want to start upgrading the sound system of my Z and was wondering what sub you gurus would pic if you had the option. Ok, I'm thinkin of gettin Orion, JL Audio, or Infinity speakers. I can get a pretty good hook up on Infinity and I know JLs are good but I have always wanted Orion subs and I've only heard on set and they were incredible. Thanks for your input.

Chris

It depends on how much money you want to spend. Of course I'm gonna be bias and tell you what we sell at the shop I work at. We sell Orion and they are great. JL isn't a bad sub either, but in my opinion there not worth what they cost. You can get a better sub for the money you pay for them. Also consider Eclipse sub (we sell them too). All of the Eclipse subs are really nice. To me they are better then JL, got longer warranty, and priced less. Like I said. It's really on how much you wanna spend.

Thumbs up

I have to put my vote in for JL Audio. They just sound so damned good.

My friend has had 3 JL 10s in a sealed box and it hits hard.

I recently bought a JL Audio W3 12". Right now I only have one JL and another decent 12" in a dual 12" box and my system has never sounded better.

I highly recommend them.

it would help if we knew the goal for the system (sq/spl)and what specific lines you are looking at.

Well, that is just the thing. I have no idea about car audio. All I know is that I want a system that hits hard and sounds clear. My cousin had some orions in his car and my friend had some JLs and the orions sounded better and hit harder. That's the extent of my car audio knowledge. My sister recently got some infinitys and I think those sound like crap. So I was wondering what kind of equipment i should get. I really like those HCCAs but i don't know anything about amps so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

If you'll be using a Stealthbox I can't recommend the Alpine Type-S or the more expensive Type-R subs highly enough. I just replaced my 10W3 with the Type-S and it blows the JL out of the water. The Type-S is a much better match for the .6 cubic feet of the Vantage Stealthbox I'm using than the 10W3. By a LONG shot. The Type-S hits harder, plays louder, goes lower and just has an overall better bass sound to it than the JL does. Check them out. You won't be sorry.

You only need 1 kicker l7 15" sub. You can install it in a 1.8cu ft box and OHH MAMMA! Thats a nasty sub for the Z's once its broken in. That will take about 3 to 4 weeks. When they break in its like adding a 150 shot to your system. The con is they can cost ya about 300.00 and the amp could hit ya for a bit more. You need a good 700w to do it right. The box is really simple and will not take your ttop racks nor will it block your vision. Pyramid /"I know I'm in trouble now"/ even makes a SPC sub that needs very little airspace they are about $50.00 build a 1.3cubic feet box a pair would only need arounf 300w. Youd be surprised.
Someone is going to get me for saying the word Pyramid. The truth is for bass the most important thing is the enclosure and reflection. Given (Pretty much) any sub you can make it really perform if the enclosure is made for the sub and the frequency you want to hit at.
Good luck and keep us updated.

I would also recommend(if using a stealthbox) a 10w6v2. These subs sound clean and hit pretty well.

Well, I just found out through my extremely good deal that I am getting infiniti "competition" subs, with an amp and a head unit. Since I am getting such a good deal i really don't have any play as far as what subs i get, hopefully they are hookin me up with the infinity perfect subs, i hear they are pretty good. Has anyone heard infinity subs at all?
