Has anyone seen this build up? you can find it at www.bmrfabrication.com. under 8 second build up it is a teal green car that they have a couple of great ideas on creating enough room under the hood of an f-body to fit turbos. By relocating the radiator you get something like a foot of space between the water pump and the radiator very cool especially if you want to cram turbos in there. but what is really cool is the front bumper support that they fabricated that would allow for an intercooler to be mounted where the bumper support is currently located. I'd be willing to bet they're not going to sell it due to major liability issues in the case of a front end impact. Very cool piece though, as soon as I saw it on that build up I looked to see if they sold it.

 

Some people are moving the radiators to the back of the car and placing them where the fuel tank once went, you want to talk about freeing up room.

 

Not a bad idea. Something I've seen on a Supra and a VERY highly modded 6th Gen Celica was the radiator layed down flat.....kind of piqued my curiousity there too.

 

if you have a welder, build your own. I saw a build somewhere where they built their own bumper support. I believe ls1tech.com, they said it did not weigh any less, but it did free up room

Thanks for the tip! That looks like it's almost going to be big enough to accomodate mounting a horizontal FMIC on too.

 

From the looks of it Burkhart Chassis sells one that also has the mounting points for the Firebird/Trans Am lights.

I believe the Burkhart piece is only for LS1 cars, hoping they will make it for the LT1 birds.

 

My builder did a new radiator support to give ~8" more clearance. We wanted to keep the stock-style fans and AC.

There would be some major liability issues for a "kit" to be produced.
