Petition GM to make HUD available earlier than 12/09 for 5th Gen Camaros!
I don't know about you guys but when I saw the Ignition video on Chevy's website, I got goosebumps. But the main thing that got my attention was the HUD. And now I'm hearing that we won't get it until 12/09!
Now I don't know if that's true but if it is (and I'm pretty sure it is), honestly I think that's weak. I think that what you show us in the video, we should be able to get when the car is available. Everything we've seen we can get. For example, the halo lighting and the RS package. I'm not saying it has to come standard, but alteast let it be an option. So lets take a poll and hopefully Chevy will see how much HUD means to people.
Do you want HUD when the car hits dealerships? Or can you wait until 12/09?

Personally I think HUD is a good feature. When you're driving a car with as much power as the Camaro, it helps alot because everything is basically infront of you. And for those of you who speed easily or for those of you who are anal about speeding, HUD can help with that since it makes your speedometer easier to see. I wouldn't mind if HUD was standard on the 5th Gen but it would make more sense if it was an option. Either way I think it should be available earlier than 12/09 since the car will be available 3/09.

Yeah I would want it immediately when the car is available. It makes a hard for people that planned getting the car a launch and then not have HUD until 12/09. Like I said in the other post it seems like GM is still are behind schedule in their Camaro development.

GM wants a HUD in the Camaro as much as anyone else. They are not hanging on it it for no reason or hoping that it hurts sales and pisses customers off. It makes them money. However, it takes it to make it and right now, the cash faucet isn't flowing and puts a lot of things on hold.
Again, make no mistake, HUD is wanted all the way around. I want it pretty bad myself and it sucks that the wheels can turn only so fast.

I REALLY like the HUD, but will I wait until December for it? I really dont know.
I'm very anxious about the car, I dont think the lack of HUD is a deal breaker for me...

I wonder if we'll be able to add HUD in the future at a reasonable cost?

I seriously doubt the reasonable cost....probably different dash (could be wrong), wiring, and I can't see them putting in the coated windshield unless it was necessary.

I really don't get why they would delay this. I understand GM is in a cash crunch, but why delay a popular option? It seems like for every step GM takes forward, they take one back

If inded that is there reasoning, then it is piss poor reasoning. Lets delay customers from ordering their cars? I have to believe there is some other factor(s) at work. Can't prove it, but I would hope that they would not be so shortsighted. The convertible should be some much needed excitement in the winter months?

when i saw that it wasnt available till 12/09 i got pissed.Like jean said,it was in the video. Why tease us with that and then not offer it?.i will wait, but i hope something else doesn't catch my eye before then.i just refuse to invest in a new car knowing that there will be better options a few months after.i just sold my thirdgen to make room in the garage.if i knew it was gonna be longer till i could get what i wanted i woulda dropped an ls2 in it so i could have something fun till that came out.now im stuck with just my 6 banger envoy.

The fact is I am sure Scott and company would love to have the Hud now just as the rest of us.
The fact is they can't do it now so deal with it. They are.
Hud should be an option in most cars as it is not only handy but a good way to keep peoples eyes on the road. It is far from a gimick and should be expanded.
If you ever owned a Hud you miss it when you don't have it.
First off if you want it is worth the wait and besides the prices will be down by then.
Also think about this the Z/28 has been said to be about a year and half after the Camaro into. How long is the Hud form now? Hmmm....
Look for it to be standard in the Z and optional on the SS and RS V6. would be my guess.

Come on guys. You really think they are holding on to it for fun? For whatever reason, its not ready, they put it on the back burner so they could get the rest of the car done.
