I have been a member for a while, but I have not owned an F-body in about 5yrs. My wife however has a 2002 Firebird vert. 3.8L auto.
Last night she had the top down and when she put the top back up and roll the windows up the drivers side window would not move. The passenger side is fine.
I pulled the door panel today after checking the fuses and got a volt meter out. There is power leaving the window switch. I actually have a spare switch so I plugged it up just to make sure. I am thinking it is the window motor, but it did not give us any signs. It was pretty slow, but it wasnt any worse than any other F-body I have been in.
I read the shoebox tutorial, but when he started out the window was up. If I understand I can take the motor off and then manually raise the window up, but I am kind of scared to drill the rivets with the glass right behind it. Is there any other way, or do I just do it and be really careful?

If you drill out the panel in the locations noted, you won't hit anything (the rivets will be behind where you drill). Just use normal caution. You might be able to raise the window after the motor is removed.
Alright I appreciate it. I was more concerned about hitting the window while actually drilling the rivets out though. We have the car covered up just in case it rains, but I am going to try and tackle this tomorrow after work.
Thanks,

If you have the door panel off, you my be able to tap on the motor with a hammer while holding the window switch in the up position. Kind of like a starter motor with a bad spot. It may move for you and you'll be able to get the window up.
