Exhaust rattle

I have a Magnaflow catback that has been on the car for about 2 months. When it gets hot, it seems to cause a rattle. Anyone with fitment tricks? My guess is that it is hitting the driveshaft. i have tried to adjust it, but no matter what I do, I cannot get it to clear enough.

Thanks

Have you checked to see if its hitting the sheetmetal "g-load" brace that connects the right and left floorpans, right under the intermediate pipe? That's a common place for exhaust sytem interference.

It does hit there if I rotate it off the driveshaft. It only appears to be hitting the lower half of it. Can I cut it down here, or is important for structure / strength?

What can "safely" be used to wedge into this area? I am pretty sure its the over the axle portion of the I pipe thats hitting. I read tons of posts. Some have used radiator hose, muffler tape rolled up....What would work best?

If its hitting the sheet metal g-load brace, simply space the brace lower with some washers between the brace and the floorpan brackets.

I got if off there, but now its hitting the body over the axle. This is where I was asking about cutting, not the floorpan brace.

I had a similar problem with my Magnaflow on my 01 vert. Solved it by loosening all of the U-bolts and jamming rubber shims into the hanger after the axle. I usually have to re-tighten the hanger once a year.

Sounds like a potential fix

Update:

I installed three washers on each side of the brace in the center of the car. No more rubbing, and the car is a lot smoother now. I did not realize how much vibration I was picking up from this. I assumed it was the driveshaft, but not any more!

thanks for the help all

Just curious why you didn't believe me? Serious question.

It was your suggestion I took. I also had a rub over the axle. Thats the part that concerned me the most. As always your suggestions are correct. Thanks Injuneer
