15X10 or 15X8 Rims for hoosier 275-60-15

Hey everyone getting ready to purchase rims for my Drag radials and I was wondering if everyone could help me out here. I have stock ride height and i just want to make sure i get the best possible fit for my track set up. What rim should i use and what back spacing is going to be the best for fitting this 28" under my car. I see that jegs recommends 8-10 wide rims which is better.

The recommended wheel width is set by the tire manufacturer. The Hoosier website info indicates the tire will work OK with anything from 8.0" - 10.0" wide. Its a tossup.... Hoosier is saying either is fine.

For a 15x8" wheel, you want a 5.5" (even with edge of fender) or 6.5" backspace (in about 1" from edge of fender). For a 15x10" wheel, you want a 7.5" backspace (even with edge of fender).

thanks great info

hey thanks for the advice. I just wanted to make sure to make the right choice. So the 15x8 will allow the hoosier's to hook as good as the 15x10? what about side wall wrinkle. thanks again. Hey its good to see someone else running the thm 400 set up!!!!!!!!!!

I always ran a wider wheel, where possible. 16 x 9.5" with some ET Streets, 15x10" with what I have now. My thinking is you are only going to want to go wider as you up the HP, so just get the 15x10's to begin with. But I don't have enough experience to know if the 8" or 10" would provide the best footprint, and I've never run drag radials on the track, only on the street.
