Chances for the LS3?
I am sooooo stoked about this car! I will probably not opt for the GT500 fighter though. It will probably be a little over the top for me.
What I want is what I hope will be the Z28 package, around 400 Hp and well balanced performance. What do you all think the chances are of the LS3 being the engine of choice for the mid-level performance car? Or do you think there is yet another V8 coming? Direct injection got any chance? What do you think?

Im guessing the Midlevel (what ill buy) will be similar to the SS if not an SS. and if the first years dont come with an LS3 then ill have to wait to get mine till they do. similar to the GTO, one year with the LS1 and then had to wait for the LS2. Im not worried, I seriously doubt that GM will put anything but the LS3 in there.

The L76 that is going in the G8 V8 could be a possibility for the base and possibly a LS3 or supercharged LS3 could be the top dog.

Correction
The 04 GTO had the LS1. 05 and 06 GTOs came with 400hp, 6.0L, 364ci, LS2s standard.

I had read in a few mags, and blogs and such that the Camaro has at least a good chance, or WILL have the LS3....
and then Scott said in passing that there have been some recent changes in the powertrain lineup. So we're not to believe anything we read about engines.
I'm not banking on LS3 OR L76. Because I was 100% sure based on things I've read that one of them would be in our car. Now I'm not so sure. and I'm not complaining!

This has been discussed in the past and some are fairly confident the LS2 will be phased out by the time the Camaro launches, making the LS3 a strong candidate for the the V8 Camaro.

....in the US , the LS2 is already done . The G8 engine doesnt count , its a 6L , but uses heads and intake similar to the LS3 .

I honestly can't see a supercharged V8 in the top Camaro anymore seeing has how the ZR1 is $100K. I would bet on something cheaper and naturally aspirated.

I wonder if the rumours about a hybrid have any truth to them.
Maybe a turbo hybrid?

I think CLEAN is referring to the rumored little brother to the LS9, which is also supercharged.

Either the LS3 or the L76 would be fine with me. Both are potent, and the L76 makes 360+ HP on 87 Octane so it would be simple to get more power from it.

I don't think there is any doubt that the Camaro will get the standard V8 offered in the base model Vette. It wouldn't make business sense to bring in some new V8 varient if the LSx in the Vette in 2009 will do the trick in power and performance. I would say LS3 as the '08 Vette's already have it but the LS2 didn't last long either.

The LS8 is no LS9 when costs are concerned . The LS8 is a production line shortblock , without dry sump oiling .
