So I plan on ordering some tires for my new 18x9.5 (56mm offset)z06 rims. I def. plan on being able to rotate them and also plan on the eibachs. So, any recommendations on either the 275/35-18 or the 275/40-18 all around ?

Anyone think the 40's might rub in the front? I would think probably not.

I am also thinking of the BFG KDW 2's if anyone can comment on those.

 

What is the offset on the wheels? Since they are not a stock size (factory C5 Z06 = 18x10.5"), they have to be repros. Without the offset, no one can tell you whether they will rub. The 35's are closest to stock tire diameter (If your car left the factory with the QLC Z-rated tire option). The 40's would be 1" larger in diameter, lifting the car another 1/2" off the ground.... seems to defeat the purpose of lowering the car.

 

oh yeah, they are the 56mm offset. and the whole point of the lowering springs is so the maro doesn't look like a 4x4.

 

Then why raise it back up with oversize tires and a too-wide sidewall

 

I just want to decrease all that space in the wheel well. I dont think a change in ride height would even be noticed.

 

ok, well anyway, If someone wants to chime in.....Size 18x9.5 Z06 (56mm offset) with 275/40-18 tires all around with a one inch drop spring. Anyone have a similar setup? Just need to know if the size 40 sidewall will be too close to the wheel well.


um, 275/40-18 is oversized? They look like normal tires to me.

 

A 275/40-18 tire is 26.7" diameter. The base V8's came with a 26.2" tire, the V8's with Z-rated tires were 25.7" diameter. Do the math.

Its your car.... put whatever size tire you want on it. Not worth arguing about.

 

If you do any hard cornering 275/40/18s WILL rub in th front, If you granny it you'll be fine, otherwise run 275/35/18s in front. The rear will be just fine with 275/40/18s. That's the size I run in the rear along with running 275/35/18s in the front. The staggered tire size looks really good with my Z28 being lowered about 1.5".You can also run a 285/35/18 on the 9.5" rims frt an rear, or 285/40s in th rear. The choice is yours.

As bluz28 mentioned, the fi in the front is tight - I have never rubbed mine, but I baby my car. The stance for me is perfect. I was thinking 275/35's, but I wanted a bit more sidewall from a 275/40 instead to keep the musclecar look. If you have more than a 1" drop, I would not recommend the 40 series - it would be too tall. Hope this helps.
