I just replaced the opti, water pump, timing cover seals gaskets, plug wires and oil pan gasket. Ran bitchen till I got off the freeway, then the low coolant sensor comes on, car's missing, and the SES light active.

I check it out and had a pinhole leak at the heater pipe near water pump bleed screw leaking down on the Opti.

Is there any way to repair the opti? Or do I just replace another one

Your going to have to replace it. An Opti is a sealed unit so you can't repair it, unfortunatly.

 

If you just replaced the opti, it should not be so prone to moisture problems. Lots of people are able to dry them out though.

 

WRONG,
You can take it apart and dry it out, most likely got antifreeze in the opti-wheel slots. you'll need E4 torx socket and carb cleaner.

True, but maybe his opti-harness plug has a bad or worn seal/gasket
(the blue rubber thing around the plug) on it. In my experience, antifreeze usually leaks down thru the opti harness plug and not around the opti casing.

I would just let it dry out and see what happens. Plenty of people have had their optis take a bath in coolant, they let them dry out for a day or two, and there was no issues thereafter.

 

just let it dry and you should be fine
