Gearing, stall, 26" tire, 100 shot?
I tried the Nitrous forum, but that didn't pan out to well. So here's the question. I'd like to run a 100 shot next year. Do you guys that use nitrous think I'll have enough rpms to pull this off. In a couple of weeks I'm changing from a 2800 stall to a 3600. Hopefully this will put me in the 11.90s with a little weight reduction. Right now the car is crossing the line at 5600rpm. Peak HP is 6k and the 1-2 shift is at 6400 and the 2-3 shift is 6300. With the 3600 stall I have no idea what the rpm will be when crossing the line. And that leads me to wonder if I can even use a 100 shot for at least 2nd and 3rd gear.
So if any of you have some experience with this, please throw some tips my way. Thanks in advance. Rick

I would say 4.10 gears and 3800. I want to be able to footbrake a 3000. So the nitrous hits as soon as I let off the brake. 100 shot should take a second off and give you about 10 mph. No not at all. More hp, quicker et, higher mph, higher mph more rpm. Need to play around with how much an extra 100 hp not rwhp will add to your times and mph now. Then mph and rpm range you want to cross at. Higher stall will help your et more then mph. I'd do the nitrous and stall first and see what she runs. It should be very low 11s maybe even high 10s. I suggest 4.10s because traction might become problem with 26s and may need to switch to 28s.
Add 10mph to your trap as an estimate.
That puts you at 124mph. Go find a gear calculator (I think there is one at the top of the page) and figure out what gearing yields around 130mph capable givin your desired rpm. You have to figure in converter slip which can be 5-10% depending on the converter unless you plan on locking your converter on spray.
Gearing has more to do with crossing the finish line than does a stall. A stall's biggest effect is converter slip. If it slips a lot you need more gear (numericly). If it is relatively effecient than less gear (numericly) is required.

Edit, I just looked up some dyno sheets that have mph. On one they took the car to 125, and on another pull they took it to 130mph. Looks like I might be good to go, if I use a first gear lock-out.
