225-70-16 tires on factory 5 star firebird wheels?

I took these wheels off the trans am and want to put them on my beater now. Will 225-70-16 tires fit the 8" factory wheels?

Most manufacturers "measure" that size tire on a 6" wide wheel, and recommend a max width of 7.5" for the wheel.

Go to Tire Rack. Do a "search by size". When you get the list of tires they carry in that size, each tire will have several buttons, and one will be "specs". Click "specs" and it will give you the dimensions, load rating, tread life rating, recommended wheel width, etc for that specific brand and size tire. Each manufacturer sets its own recommended wheel widths, so you need to look at the specific tire you are thinking about buying.
