Bad track times....

Hello everyone this is my first post here...
Anyways i had horable times at the track when i went. Here are my numbers.

r/t .828
60ft 2.351
594ft 8.920
1/8et 9.497
1/8th mph 77.99

A little about my car to help out, 96 T/A K&N fipk, flowmaster muffler, and 2.73 gears. tires are bald in the middle, cause the person befor me had the tires overinflated. This was also my first time it was cold that day as well.... Does it sound like there is something wronge with my car.

well, thats a mid to high 14 sec pass using the somehwhat accurate formula.

How long has it been since the car has had a tuneup? the 60' sucks, but it is the first time...so dont get mad yet.
How cold was it? headwind? humidity?

Yep, the 60' makes or breaks your e.t. Iam sure it is not easy to take of with 2.73's, either you bog or spincity! On a well prepped track your tires shouldn't hurt you that much but those 2.73's are gonna hold you down. Try slipping the clutch aggressively with just a hint of wheel spin. Start with 2000rpm.

Oh, each time you go to the track you will see your times improve as you get use to your car so be patient.

Are you getting false knock? thats the main reason to get the LT4 module.

When was the last tune up done? fuel filter changed etc?
An auto with 2.73's wont mph very high, thos gears just are not for drag racing...........land speed racing sure.......drag no

this winter it is getting a tune up.... plugs, wires, coil. as well as headers i do belive, and an obd1 conversion, with 3.73 gears...

It has a brand new fuel pump, as well as a fuel filter, do you think there could be anything else wronge....
or something else to add to it this winter......

We can't really tell if there is anything wrong.

Just do what you said...tuneup, gears, headers etc.... and definately get the knock module. Then go do your runs and get your post-tuneup baseline. If you get around 2.0 60fts on radials and run around 13.6ish; then your fine (not great, just average).

And don't sweat the bad times now. It WILL get better.

Any particular reason you are swapping to OBDI? lot's of states are changing emissions testing for OBD-II cars so tall they do is plug in.
For the mods you have planned, the stock pcm will be fine.

i am gonna go threw pcmforless.com and i as well plan on running no cats. Brian there offers a deal when you do the conversion, you will get free updates. Since i am planning on running 3.73 gears i will eed the computer reprogramed. They are no emissions laws here, they tried it once but it failed, so they dont do it anymore....
