I wanna drive like 50miles mainly all straight highway to race my car at a track..i wanted to take the front sway bar off beforehand and drive there..some ppl say it's not to bad, some say it is..

Anyone not reccomend this and why?

Should i just unhook the endlinks or remove it all together?

You might notice a swaying motion, like your on a boat, because that it what the front saybar is there to prevent. I've been told mine sways like this but i can hardley notice. I've been driveing without mine for a few months now. You won't be able to take corners quite as fast either. Removeing the front swaybar shaves a few pounds off the front end, plus it helps the front end lift off the ground, improveing weight transfer to help your 60' times. It might take a while to get it off, the bolts that hold the bushings together on mine were pretty well rusted. I'll probably just leave mine off until I get a better one.

 

Old cars didn't have sway bars. You'll be fine, just won't handle as well.

 

You'll be fine, but your not removing enough weight off the front to make any measurable differance at the track.

 

Lol, that's some great logic.

Let's say you get into an emergency maneuver situation. Who knows how your car is going to handle with no bar in front and bar in the rear? The car was manufactured with both bars to neutralize handling.
Heck, just take them both off. Then, you can be like an old car.

 

Logic is part of common sense.... which is sometimes very easily overlooked.

While we're at it we could install drum brakes and remove the ABS.

At your mod level, pulling the sway bar will not get you anything and is a complete waste of time. To lighten the front end enough to make a noticalbe difference at the track you'd have to switch to skinnies, relocate the battery, and remove the A/C, ABS, and sway bar.

 

It isn't like he is wanting to do this daily.
If he is just driving it to the track and back and realizes it isn't going to handle as well what's the prob? Can't be any worse than people driving daily on skinny's or in the rain on drag radials (or even well worn street tires) or driving fast on cheap "budget" tires and stock brakes. It most definately won't be any worse than driving on the little spare.

Oh and don't forget the narrow bias-ply tires and tall stance for the old car feel.
