cutout won't fit?

Had my hooker catback installed today, planned on having the cutout in, too. The guys at the shop said they couldn't find a place for the cutout where it wouldn't hit the ground or floorpan... anyone have a pic of where it should be?

Re: cutout won't fit?

CrackhedMatt style is always an option.

Just before the pipe make it's last turn into the muffler - chop a hole in the pipe on the bend and weld on the capped flange.

The downside to this is that it's right next to the fuel tank.

Re: cutout won't fit?

The area right before the axle, there is plenty of room there.

Re: cutout won't fit?

I put mine where the cat originally was. So it links the Y-Pipe and the catback.

Re: cutout won't fit?

I was told by a different muffler shop today that the place I wanted it (before rear axle) would be too dangerous to weld near... he didn't want to "catch anything on fire." He said if he unbolted the cat and pulled the exhaust down a bit, but it would take more time and cost around $50. Why are my shops all idiots?

20 bucks is a good deal. I paid 75 to have mine installed, that particular shop charged a flat rate of one hour.

Wow, this is an old thread! I actually hadn't realized that I'd even owned my Z for a full year yet, but obviously I have.

To let you guys know, I took it to a different shop with a printed out picture of where it should go and they fixed it up for $25.

Some shops charge a minimum of one hour, even if the job is only 30 minutes or less.
