I have to rebuild tranny - should I replace torque converter too?

Hi,

As the title states, I have to rebuild my tranny, but someone suggested I replace the torque converter at the same time as well...should I worry about this?

I should mention that it's not like my tranny is making funny noises or smells...it all started with it not shifting properly at redline, and now it's starting to slip, but if I drive it gently it shifts fine.

Opinions???

Thanks,
Rob

I definetly would at get a new one or at least get yours opened and clean so all the debris in the oil that is stuck inside dosent contamintae your new trans parts.

Yes....the torque converter MUST be replaced. Get a 2800-3200 stall...you will not regret it.

...and to dispell a common myth, you cannot "flush" a converter. It must be cut open and cleaned.
