What type of alum is the bell housing made out of.....

About to fix a crack in the bell housing of a 6speed...
anyone know?

Probably 356... which is close to 6061

Your obviously going to weld it up after you grind out the crack?

weigh it, then dunk it in a tank of water to find the density and look in a chart to find the closest one, hahaha. Why do you need to know for sure? I guess that kind of dictates what filler rod to use, no?

I agree, probably 356 cast but I don't know for sure. Don't know where you'd find that info but I'd probably just preheat, try a 4043 rod on it and see how it works.
