Re: something better than 1LE A/C Delete

I tried thinking of several different ways to get around buyin the delete pulley, but there was none I could think of. What I don't understand is why would someone leave the a/c pump on the car if they are doing a complete removal?

1.) With the a/c pump out of there it opens up precious more room under the car for working on things.

2.) Every little bit of weight reduction helps IMO, and that a/c pump isn't the lightest accesory either.

But I am always open to ideas and suggestions, if yours is good I will try it and sell my delete pulley.

The whole reason for the A/C delete is weighy saving. Puting the weight of the lines, condenseor, and the unit seem like a waste of time. My money is with the A/C delete pully.

Well, I do realize that the thing is heavy, if you want to give a guide with pics i may consider it. Of course i would take out all the lines, etc. I thought about doing this a while back but was worried because the compressor is the heaviest part of the system.

If I understand this correctly - we're supposed to rip apart and destroy the A/C compressor, which we could sell intact for $50 or more, in order to save $30 for a 1LE delete pulley?

What's wrong with this picture?

Maybe something got lost in the translation.

I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea if you had an old broken compressor lying around the garage. As stated by Injuneer, the 1LE pulleys are cheap, I picked mine up along with the belt for 25.00 from someone on this board. Also, it would be kind of pointless to destroy a working A/C unit if you ever wanted to return the car to stock one day or just sell the parts to make a few bucks.

My a/c compressor seized up so i am interested. I was planning on deleting it but, i wouldnt be able to sell it so, if this modification was close in weight to the delete bracket it would be worth doing. One thing i would be worried about is strength. The thing would be exposed to a lot of power and would need to handle it withou bending or breaking.

The 1LE Pulley will be substantially less weight than a gutted AC Compressor. The 1LE Pulley is just a simple aluminum casting with a pulley mounted to it. Besides, it also gives you much better access to run your plug wires, etc.
