Need help.....info about my 160 thermostat

I recently put a 160 degree thermostat in my 2002 Trans AM and it doesnt seem to make any difference at all. My car still runs at 100 or so the gauge says. I also have a manual fan switch and i can turn it on and it doest make a difference either. I am new with this engine....please help me out. thanks

Re: Need help.....info about my 160 thermostat

might wanna try this in the LS1 forum..

but GM made the temp guages on the 99+ fbodies for the most part non-functional. they read the same temp from about 150-230 degrees.

i did my stat and it runs a constant 175 on the highway (scanner) but the guage still reads 200.

no way to fix it either unless you put a totally separate temp guage on the car.

Sounds like a broken temp gauge to me.
