Has anyone ran the edelbrock performer rpm roller cam?
Has anyone ran the edelbrock performer rpm roller cam?
Need to know what all parts i need to buy to install this cam in my 87 firebird 355. On the cam card it says only use the edelbrock sure seat vavle springs and that they work on stock heads with no machining. My motor only has 10,000 miles on it since it was rebuilt. Also my motor is now carbed so there is no worry about the computer. So what all do i need to buy springs, timing chain and gaskets anything else. And also if anyone has ran this cam how did u like it?
Re: Has anyone ran the edelbrock performer rpm roller cam?
you sure they work with stock heads???? because i have L98 aluminum vette heads and i'm running a XE276 HR with .503/.510 lift, and i have to get mine machined deeper and wider for bigger springs...that RPM cam is like .523 lift or something...i'm thinking you need machining for that thing...but yea timing chain would probably be a good idea, new springs, your lifters should be alright if they have low miles, you'll need new retainers probably for the new springs...i would just go with the steel ones, some people might tell you to go for the titanium retainers, but i feel your just spending unneed money...and of course the gaskets...that sounds like one mean cam, i kinda wish i would've got that one instead of the one i got..
Re: Has anyone ran the edelbrock performer rpm roller cam?
Well the edelbock springs are made to fit in the stock spring pocket. The cam specs are (296/300 adv)(234/238 at .050)(.539/.548 lift)(112 lobe sep)(107 intake centerline) I was more curious to know if i needed roller rockers, screw in studs and guide plates or any other valve train. Im going to call edelbrocks techline on monday but i wanted to hear some opinions.

id put in roller rockers and screw in studs if you wanna turn it any RPM (more) reliably.
let us know how that cam works out,ive never heard much good about Edelbrock cams, but a few people ive heard havent been happy w/ them.
