rear brake problem

Noticed the rear wheels turn with the brakes applied while on lift. If you spin the front wheels and hit brakes they stop. Anybody run into this before?

Re: rear brake problem

well, the front brakes are accountable for 60-70% or your braking, but it should still lockup easily. 1)make sure your pads are good and intact (assumnig u have disks) 2) if pads are good, check for piston possibly being stuck in the cylinder. corrosion or something over a period of sitting and weathering can possible cause it to stick permanently in worse case scenario.

Re: rear brake problem

my car is a 95 Z A4 with rear disc. I was thinking the same thing so I bought new hoses and calipers. I'm going to install today. I'll keep you posted with my results.

Re: rear brake problem

Hey man, what came about from this? I am having the same problem! I have an ABS light on (ever since I installed my elec water pump over a year ago) and I just found out the rear brakes aren't working...could they be related? Emergency brake works fine though...just nothing in the rear when I apply the pedal.
