Wink LS1 H/C 346 goes 10.29@129mph

Went to HRP for the 1st points race of the year. Weather was in question but we got the race in.

Dad did pretty good in his 01 Z/28. He lost in the 3rd round. He red lighted away and 10.94 @ 121 mph, race weight of 3535. He is getting the hang of driving his new car. In the 5 runs down the track he ran 5-6.97's in the 1/8 mile in a row. Talk about a consistant race race. We just need to get him some more seat time.

My race went pretty good until the 4th round. I got drilled with a .001 light to my .031(slowest light of the night). I ran a 10.29 with a 2 on a 10.29 dial in to his 11.13 on a 11.11 dial in. I just couldn't catch him at the top end. We had a chance at this race. The car was running the number and I was hitting the tree. A .001 light will get ya most of the time. Oh well thats bracket racing.

Here is the slip of my new best;
RT .031
60 1.348
330 4.148
1/8 6.503
mph 104.31
1000 8.555
1/4 10.292
mph 129.39

Not to bad for a LS1 H/C 346 with a race weight of 3212.

I would like to think my wife for letting me race. Madman for all the help at the race. Thunder Racing for one hell of a race motor.

What kind of rwhp numbers are you putting down? I'm helping a buddy of mine build a racecar from a 98Z and he's got a 408 LS1 that is suppost to put down 575 at the wheels, but we'll see.

Doubters I see, Coach good job.
Your car is an animal for sure, also good job on those lights!

Our season does not start until first of next month, the track just opened up for the first time last Saturday.

Coach and I havent worried about dyno numbers. The MPH tells the tale. This is a RACECAR that gets run over 300 passes a year.

Are you sure its only 300 passes? This year he might exceed that if he keeps going like he's doing.
I agree MadMan, the track is where its at.
To many variables on the dyno, High Stall, Gears, Power Train all influences the HP reading on the dyno. The track will show the end results.
We mainly use the dyno to set the A/F ratio and do the fine tuning at the track.

543 RWHP going off of 129.39 MPH and 3212 weight. The car is achieving 107% effiency, this is hard to do, but can be done. The car has to work perfectly with gearing and gear selection in a N/A application. But at 300 passes a year he's had alot of time to test and tune the car.

Same place again this year. Looking forward to the finals this year, hopefully I will get further than last year, heck I did not even get to the third round. The last part of last year I was breaking way to many things. This year everything has been refreshed up.

Thanks again everyone.

Hi Steve. Yea, I would love to race Frank again. I will get over to no problem sometime this year. Team Skeletor sure can put some very good motors together. They are going to do my spare motor freshen up also. It is 346 LS1 cam only motor.
