I posted before about my 4L60E that lost 2nd gear. Here's the original thread:

Here's what's happening. When I go from a stop, it won't shift into 2nd. If I let up on the throttle, it will shift up into 3rd. If I'm cruising at less than 60 mph and go WOT, it "downshifts" out of OD/3rd and tries to hit 2nd, but just bounces off the rev limiter. The rest of the time, the trans is fine.

I drove it like his for about a month and a half now. Last week, while I was driving, it decided to shift into 2nd from a stop. It was a slow, weak shift, but it went into 2nd. For about half an hour after that, the trans worked fine, like normal. The 1-2 shift was strong, crisp and fast like they should have been. Then it had another slow weak 1-2 shift from a stop. After that, it was back to no 2nd at all. It has done this a couple times now. It always has a weak shift, then works fine, then another weak shift, then no 2nd.

Does this sound like a bad 1-2 solenoid?

 

Neither the "A" or "B" shift solenoid will cause you to lose just second gear. Let me ask this. How's 4th gear feel?

4th feels good. The only thing wrong it seems is no 2nd gear.
