me against 03 cl55 amg benz

this was my third of 4 races tonite at the track! anyway i was talking to him b4 we ran and i asked if he minded if we ran! so he told his bud to tell the guy at the front of staging lanes, so it was on. he told me that his last run was a 14.2 @ 101 but he started in 2nd gear. so this time he was going to start in first. i guess the shift is on the steering wheel! anyway we go and here are our times:
him me
r/t .458 .535 he redlighted
60' 2.29 2.29
1/8 9.19 9.24
qtr 14.042 14.206
trap 102.63 99.25
it was a alot of fun guy was really cool and rich, lol. another one of my races were against a 95 5.0 stang and he ran a measly 15.7 @88.64( 5 speed as well) other 2 races are not worth noting! with my last 3 mods i only picked up a lil mph no better times! aight later guys

Practice launching... If you can get a 2.0 60, you'd be in 13's ... You got the MPH ( In otherwords, you got the power ) ...

With a 2.0 60' you could easily hit 13.7's possible a tenth faster even.

Unless the 03's are quite diferent than the 04's, you raced some guy that just slapped some AMG badges on his car- http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container...modelCode=CL55

I was at the track on night last year when there was an AMG55 running. I was running just a tenth faster than him!!

actually his car is 493 hp and 516 tq with a supercharger. no he didnt put the badges on there. it was the real deal! but it weighs in at 5700 lbs! it actually makes sense when the wieght issue comes in. he weighs twice as much and has twice as much power!

http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coup...mb/index1.html

493 HP and 4225 curb weight. You can see the performance charts here http://www.motortrend.com/features/s..._0306_spdtest/
They got a 12.38 1/4 mile @ 114

Could it have been a CLK55? Those are only 362 HP.

Good kill against the Mercedes.

However, there's no way that was a CL55 AMG, or the driver did something horribly wrong. The CL55 AMG runs with or BETTER than a Z06, and it has an automatic with what I've read from owners (on Z06Vette.com) is an absolutely killer traction control scheme... stomp on the gas when at the last amber and run mid 12s, over and over and over. Totally repeatable.

Look what I posted above. There was an AMG55 at the track last year when I was running my car. That has the same motor as what you are talking about, but is a sedan- heavier than what you are describing. I ran an 8.1, he ran an 8.3. Those cars are no joke, and a legit CL55 AMG would stomp you so bad that it's not even funny. He has almost 500 hp, you have 285 and a CAI and cutout. Game over.

Re: me against 03 cl55 amg benz

ok first of all lets not get off on the wrong foot here guys. as i first stated he said" lst time i started in 2nd gear , this time i will start in first" his car had the shifter on the steering wheel. he said with that his shifts are 35% faster i believe. anyway he could have started in 2nd again! but after that race i watched him go again and he did the same time again. so i dont know what his problem was, but that was the time he ran. there were other people on this board that were there if u want more facts on the car.( just about everyone at the track had to stop and talk to the guy) on the back of the car( on the driver side, it said cl55 and the on the pass. side it said amg) i am sorry.

Good kill against the Mercedes.<<< said by nuke.....no he beat me! he actually didnt start pulling good till about 90, from there up he would walk me very easily!

Re: me against 03 cl55 amg benz

oh yeah one more thing that he said! he said that it should go o-60 in 4.1 secs. maybe when he shifts on the steering wheel it dont let him start in first that is where his problem was!

Re: me against 03 cl55 amg benz

Most, if not all Mercedes start off in second. However, if you really step on the gas it will put you in first gear quick enough that you won't know the diferrence. My moms 1986 Mercedes 300E did that. If his car won't let him start off in first, what's the point of having a first gear anyway? The thing is, when you stomp it, the car selects first for you. If it has some sort of manumatic, and he does not know how to select first, then he really shouldn't even be trying to race the car

Sounds like you raced a guy that has absolutely no clue, other than statistics about the car he has read in brochures. If he's so knowledgeable about 35% quicker gear shifts and 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, then I'd assume he knows how to start off in first. I still don't think it was an AMG. Nice kill though.

Re: me against 03 cl55 amg benz

Amazing to me that an AMG CL55 (weighs 4317 pounds, not 5700), one of the easiest cars to drive down the track (next other than other AMG models would probably be a tiptronic 911 turbo) can still be ****ed up by a dumbass driver. All the guy has to do is step off the brake and floor the accelerator and point the car straight!

Re: me against 03 cl55 amg benz

he said that it had button shifters on the steering wheel ( mind you that this was his first tiem at the track) he said he was nervous and when he got to the staging lights he would have it in first then his finger would slip and put it in second. sorry that u all dont believe me! but that is exactly what happened, and it is the car i am talking about

Re: me against 03 cl55 amg benz

I just don't undestand how anyone could screw up an automatic tranny'd car that has a widely regarded "best in class" ability of the traction control system to give thoroughly repeatable mid to high 12 second quarter mile times. Maybe he turned it off and bogged/spun on the line -- big time.
