4:10 GEAR guys...Are you using stock steel Drive shaft?
Hey,
Just as the question says. I've got 3.73s and "thinking" of going to a 4:10, but I want to use my stock steel driveshaft.
I also have zexal torsen with 17" tires.
Would I have any problems?
Thanks

No you shouldn't see any serious problems but the car will probably vibrate a lot more on the freeway. My friend put 4.10's in his car and it started to vibrate a lot more. So he put an aluminum ds on there and the vibes went away.
As long as your stock steel driveshaft is still balanced then it should be ok. After my MOser rearend install w/ 4.10's my stock Ds started to vibrate badly. I was warned about getting an aluminum DS if i was going to drag race the car. I didnt want a steel one because of how much power it eats up compared to aluminum. I bought a LPE 3.5" aluminum driveshaft. This is a heavy duty piece and it should hold up very well. I havent had any problems with it and no vibrations.
My car used to be A4/2.73 before switching to M6/3.73s. The first thing i noticed afterwards was that it started to get a little vibration between 65 and 80mph. I'm guessing it's the DS. I'll find out this summer cause if i can find a good LS1 shaft, i'm getting it.
I have the stock DS with the 4.11's in my 12 bolt. I'm not gonna get an alum since
1 it doesn;t eat up "that much" power
2 once my car is aculay done I will ne a stronger DS that alum. I am going to get a nice custom strong *** steel one

Hey,
Since I have the Zexal Torsen in the rear, I was told that I would have to buy a "Paddle Kit" by the SLP techs.
The kit would alow the 4.10s to go in correctly.
I'm sticking with the 3.73s because I'm going to spray a 100 shot next year if I still have the car.
Thanks,
Tim
