93 Total Conversion, Looking for Advice
Okay, I recently came by a 1993 Stock V6 3.4. This car is very bare. I'm looking to do a total buildup, essentially rebuild the car. My first question regards the 93 chasis, will it accept an LS1? I know I'm going to have to do mounds of electrical work due to the fact that the computer control system was totally revamped in 94 then again in 98. Right now I'm looking to get the basic issues out of the way. If anyone has any helpful insights, please post.
So, will the chasis take an LS1?
Tranny Recommendations?
Also looking for a good performance brake system.
The idea of the build is to make a Pony stompin Rice killin streetable beast.

Yes the chassis will take an LS1 but as usual its mounts and all have to be done but I have personally seen it done. As for tranny its up to your choice of driving. If you get a used LS1 you might be able to pick up the tranny with it.

1. as said yes, different K member, but you need one anyways cause you have a v6, so get a tubular K member from BMR,
2. M6, they are jsut too much fun. make sure its the one for the LS1
3. go for the Z06 brakes... I think there is a thread about it just a few down from this one.
4. well why not make it a blown 383 LS1 then budget alowing.
but a cammed LS1 will kick alot of mustangs around pretty bad, give it heads too

Get a bolt in 12-bolt or 9-inch (Ford based Yikes).

thats a nice rear end..... hmm why did that sound dirty??
anyways, as for suppliers, umm well I like http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/
great service, and fast shipping,
they ahve all the LS1 parts you'll need minus the LS1, tranny, and maybe the wire harness and computures.
but you might as well go tubular everything in the front if you can afford it, cause you'll need to replace the K member, tranny brace etc.
and as said I like BMR stuff.

I just browsed BMR, and compared to other stuff I've seen, well worth it, I'm sold.
Know any websites with any info regarding the actual process, or am I hoping for a bit too much. I've done heavy work on my cars before, but nothing quite this involved.

Check out http://www.billygrahamscamaro.com/ for used LS1 parts. You might want to give them a call. This salvage yard is close to where my parents live and if you decide to get a motor/tranny from them I might be able to go give it a look over in person.
From what we've seen in the past, they are a little on the expensive side. Most things go for 1/2 of new which can either be a steal or a rip off.

Ok just ordered the tubular K from BMR, including the necessary mounts.
I just realized that I'm going to need to completely overhaul the suspension setup as well (looked at it and one o the coils is cracked!!) Any good performance kits out there?

I thought the LS1 wouldn't fit in a 93-97 F-body front end, basically have to change your whole front clip and hood to get the clearance.

Not based on the other info I have found. According to other people who have done it, the major changes only include the K member, computer upgrades, transmission changes, and a few other things. No one ever mentioned the hood or clearance issues. I'd appreciate any info you might have though, especially considering this is an issue I had heard nothing about.
