WRX's talking smack on WRX Forum
OK, not really a kill story (at least from the Camaro perspective), I just it might be interesting to read what some of the WRXers are talking about us, from their point of view.http://www.wrxforum.com/cgi-bin/ulti...c;f=3;t=005252
haha....some are making good points, yet others have no idea what they are talking bout and shouldnt be in the conv. because they seem to think that 97's only came in white w/ orange racing stripes, lol! And some think that its still an LS1. Oh well

I dunno, z28's with ls1's should be good for about a 13.8 @102 mph. That's not much faster than a stock wrx from s stop. On a roll, the wrx would get killed tho.
13.8 @ 102? Man, someone should shed these guys some light!

so did they ever figure out whether it was a 97 or a 98? that makes a huge difference i would say.
for the lt1...i'd say it was a good race
for an ls1...he needs to learn how to drive

Actually wasn't the race only a short distance? I would say it would be the other way around, LT1's having more torque at lower rpm's......wouldnt the LT1 do better for a short distance than the LS1's since the LS1 pulls better on top?(Stock for Stock) Maybe the driver just sucked in the race....either way those guys don't have a clue about our cars....
Yeah, most of those guys seem to be pretty cool. They aren't really bashing the F-body or anything. I'd be excited if I owned a WRX and beat an American Muscle car. We are the big target for those guys. It's a big goal for many of them to be able to take down a Z28. It's understandable. Of coarse, it takes quite a few mods for the WRX to hang with a stock LT1 or a LS1 from a roll.
Anyways, the Z28 driver just bought the car. It was a '97 with the LT1. From a stop, it takes a while to catch up to a WRX with a good driver since they can pull off some crazy 60' times. I believe the race.
I like how they all state that from a roll they get killed.
They actually seem to give us props way more than we tend to give imports props.
By the way, 13.8 at 102 is not that innacurate for the '98 LS1.

I didn't see any "smack talking." They probably know as much about f-bods as half the people on this site know about WRX'es... not much. They might be a little uninformed, but I have seen LS1 powered cars run 14's @ 101 with my own eyes.
I don't think I've seen a stock LS1 go less than a 13.8.
My first time EVER to a track was about 3 months after I bought my 99 Trans Am (2 months of which were spent deployed). It was my first manual car ever too. Anyway, on my third track run ever I went 13.6@104. Later that night I went 13.53@106.9 bone stock.
Those slower LS1 stock times you see are probably a conglomeration of driver, and DA factors.
