sway bar endlinks question

sway bar endlinks question

this is probably a wasted post but does it matter which order the parts of the endlink go on? my endlink popped off while i was getting something checked out on the car and the guy put them back on in a different order then i did. i think i had it so it went like this:

nut (at the top)
washer
bushing
sway bar
bushing
washer
spacer
washer
bushing
bushing
washer
a-arm
bolt


he put them back on like this :

(top)
nut
washer
bushing
sway bar
bushing
washer
spacer
washer
bushing
A-ARM
buhsing
washer
bolt

however my setup was originally was how the manufacturer portrayed it to be in their install directions, just curious if differing from that makes a difference

edit- sorry if my digi cam had arrived in the mail yet i'd take a picture so its easier to see what im talking about rather then list the pieces in order top to bottom

mine was setup just how it was pictured in my directions. not that i thought his was wrong.

maybe the illustration was wrong, but there shouldve been a bushing on either side of the a arm. if not then its the metal bolt against the metal a arm. you dont want that. trey

I agree, you should have a bushing on each side of the control arm, not bolt on metal.

I have heard of turning the washers around so that the cupped side is away from the bushing. I think it allows the bushings to roll a bit easier. This is for aftermarket style like energy suspension stuff.

come to think of it i forgot to check before the guy lowered the car the one endlink was different then the other hope he switched it back before he put it back down. whoops. i was rudely awaked early after a late night at work so i dont totally remember everything that happened this morning. about the only clear image is seeing my boss driving to work and leaning out the window to give him the finger

that was another reason for this post ive heard of people changing stuff with the endlinks to do change how the car handles. didnt know about turning the cupped washers around. ive heard of changing the height/length or loosening it

well you have to be careful about not over tightening the end links. i havent heard about flipping the washers over. thats interesting. wonder if it really works?
