Ran a 5.0
Was going down the interstate a while ago and my bud with a LX 5.0 pulls up and starts playing around. It's kinda funny in itself cause this guy is a pure fruitcake. Not exactly sure what year it is, early 90's (I think he said it's a 93, but it's been a while since we talked about it). Anyway, it's a 5-speed with intake and exhaust. I have intake and exhaust with an M6/3.73s. We hit it at around 70-ish. Just for kicks i let him take the jump to start us off. He got a little out front, his rear tires at my lights. By 85 or so i was right beside him and things are looking ugly already. The longer we went the nastier it got too. By 125 i had around 5 or 6 lengths on him and still pulling away hard. We shut 'em down when i hit 130 and got on the brakes. Then after we got off the interstate we caught a red light..... with me behind him. We hit it again up to around 60 or so with me having to let out of it twice to keep from running into him before we shut 'em down. We stopped and talked for a few. He offered me $7500 for my car haha. He couldn't believe how much faster I was up top.
I have around 92K on the OD and he's got about 15K more. He's ordering heads, intake, and a vortec s-trim before long so i'm on borrowed time. Cool thing is, he wants me to help him put it together.
As a side note, I've got a race with an 02 GT 5-speed with intake, exhaust, and a chip coming up soon. Can hardly wait to run him and i'll let ya'll know what happens. We've settled on going from 20 to 120 since neither of us can get traction off the line. Hang I can't hook anywhere in first gear so i think he might jump out front at the start.

It shouldn't matter if he jumps out of the hole, you'll pull him in by the end of 2nd gear hehe....then some more as the rpms and speed keeps going up.

tell you what though, I've heard (note I said heard, not seen) a few 5.0's run in the 13's with almost no mods, eespecially the pre-90 notchbacks...it helps to have a rear end that doesn't crack every time you get slicks near it I'm sure
