Are you talking about those 4th gen ZL1 conversions, with a 427 ci engine?

I'm pretty certain those weren't done by GM, but thru a dealership.

If your just intersted in a 7L LS1/LS6/C5R based engine, there are shops that can build you one, like MTI.....

They were not made by GM, dealers had them built for specialty vehicles. Also not to be confused but GM now makes a new big block fuel injected ZL1 454.(about $21,000 motor only each)

Go to SLP. They sell the engine for $25,000. GMMG will give you one installed for $30,000

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume bill is talking about the 2002 ZL1 camaro by GMMG that came w/ an LS6. Scoggin dickey parts has an LS6 with the F-body oil pan for sale as a crate motor. The only major differences between the LS1 and LS6 are the heads and cam and intake package (although 01-02 cars have an LS6 intake). The LS6 block is slightly stronger and has slightly better oiling, although some F bodys have LS6 blocks.

The 2002 ZL1's came with a 427 as there stage 3 version. Stage 1 and 2 had the ls6 with some modifacations from gmmg, like intake manifold and heads to name a few. The stage 3 motor is 30 grand.

the standard set-up in the 02' zl1 cars was basicly just a gen III LS6. that's how the package was based, the 427 versions were specially requested.
