Question Painting the LT1 intake

I am removing my LT1 intake to fix "The Leak" and want to paint it red. Any thoughts on this as far as will it work, will it hold up, etc. I know most often they are powder coated, but I am short on cash right now.

I just painted my intake black using high temp spray paint. It came out looking great after about 6-8 coats. Make sure to mask everything off well. One warning though, make sure to wash the intake with soapy water to get rid of any oily surface, because the paint will not like to stock there. The only other drawback is that it chips rather easily, so don't use your intake as a tool bench like I just did the other day . I have some pics if you'd like me to send to you before/after.
