Mothers vs. Meguiars???

Everytime I put on the meguiars gold wax, it only feels smooth for like 4 or 5 days. WIll the Mother's wax last longer?? Im getting tired of waxing every weekend.

And here-in lies the problems with carnauba wax... it doesn't last worth anything.

Try a synthetic... the most popular is Zaino.

I use it, I'll never use anything else.

Zaino lasts MONTHS and you can layer it... stuff comes right off it... wonderful products.

Mother's Gold Carnauba will last a little longer than Meguiar's Gold Class, but only slightly longer. If you want long a long lasting product as said try Zaino, Klasse or even Liquid Glass, all of these will last longer than carnauba wax products.

Lightbulb

Yeah, I was in the same boat several years ago. I just got tires of having to apply a carnauba wax every other week just to keep the shine and slickness near 100% all the time. The protection was inadequate as well,a nd I was not satisfied. This is exactly the reasons that synthetic products were created.....to deal with the shortcomings that natural waxes inherently have. So, I'd strongly suggest you move to a synthetic product......Zaino is tops, however there are other products like Klasse, Liquid Glass, etc....that offer much greater durability, protection, and usually shine too.

I love a great shine and I love protection even more. Having to slave over a caranuba wax so often isn't my idea of fun or keeping the car well protected. Most all caranuba waxes have the same durability (some vary more than others but they are all generally the same), except for Collinite which can last longer than most. I have not regretted moving to synthetic polymers one bit and likewise I don't miss caranauba waxes one bit either..... Those years have come and gone and it's time for something more advanced and much better....

Liquid Glass......no, it contains light cleaners that will remove each previous coat.

Klasse......yes and no. There are 2 Klasse products, All-In-One and Sealant Glaze. AIO will not layer as it contains stronger cleaners than Liquid Glass, SG will layer as it contains no cleaners. The SG is chock full of solvent though, even though it has no cleaning ability. AIO is somewhat difficult to apply, and a breeze to remove. SG is IMO easy to apply and a bear to remove.....go figure. I've used both and find the ease of use, or lack thereof, a turnoff and I personally didn't care for it's shine. Since shine is so subjective, what I don't prefer, you might like..... It does tend to change the color of the paint though more like a natural wax, i.e. makes it darker, etc. Plus the Klasse products do not bead like traditional products, which I also didn't care for..... Plenty of folks like it though, as long as you don't mind the way it works.....

My Zaino finally sputtered out after 8 months of AZ weather. Time to reapply before it gets any hotter. 98 today. A layer of Zaino will keep me through until probably Thanksgiving. The dirt and sandstorms are what kills my finish out here.

I have #9, Vanilla Moose and S100 on my green Camry and it'll last 4 weeks then it is gone.

there is a reason mothers has other products that are not natural, dont contain carnubba and are synthetic. How about Mothers reflections, Sealer and Glaze. Both of these products are not natural and are to before the wax. reflections is a light polish and contains a synthetic wax. However, relfections does not layer.

WOW!

8 months in that environment is pretty darn good IMO! If I could ever resist the urge to apply it so often, I might find the outer limits of its durability too. The protection is the best thing about Zaino IMO, and the shine is just icing on the cake.

Even though S100 isn't very durable or protective, the shine sure is nice for the price of the wax.

The s100 I think is even easier to put on than Zaino. It is like putting on butter. The shine and feel for the first couple days is fantastic and it is cheap fo rthe amount of coats I can get out of a jar. The 8 month Zaino test was just that, a test. I wanted to see how long it would last. That was the winter test, now comes the tough one. The summer test will be a bit harder as some days it is like driving around in a sand blaster. I'm doing one coat (complete prep and all) and I'll let you all know how it does. I only keep it up every few weeks with a Z7 wash as needed. We shall see.
