keep the 6 or buy a z????

alright guys, i've been thinking about sellin the v6 and gettin a z28.

my problem is the body on my 6 is nice, no dents or anything, and the interior is great, the only problem with it is that its slow.

you think i should keep my car and buy a used tranny/motor or just sell it and buy a z?

oh and my car has 120k miles on it and i hear that the head gaskets blow usually around 126k or so...

Aren't there more differences than just the tranny/motor? I thought gears and suspension were different too. Honestly I don't know though. Have you priced it out? What will it cost you to drop in the needed parts to get you up to a Z performance wise? What will it cost to sell yours and buy a Z (net)?

I for one love the getup and go of the bigger motors, so I'd say do what gets you into a Z or even an SS the fastest!

Sorry I'm not that informative.

I'd keep the v6 as a driver and pickup an early 4th gen Z that needed work.

I was faced w/the same problem before I bought my 95. dont even bother putting in a v8. itd be way too cost prohibitive. unless you intend on installing all new aftermarket susp. and built eng/trans. anyways. but if you have a budget, then youd be waay ahead of the game by buying one thats already somewhat modded. or even a stock Z thats cheap.

I faced the same problem about 6 years ago.I had a 89 RS with a 2.8 six shooter in it.The car was from Florida. It had a really clean body and interior but lacked *****.I sold it (and shed a tear at the same time)drove 2 hours to Farmington Hills and bought my Z.I think it paid off in the end.It was just as nice if not better than the 6er and had a few more ***** too.The only thing I regret was I should have kept the 89 as a driver and bought the 91 as a toy.I would recommend doing that if you can afford it.If you can't then get the Z but a Turbo 6 shooter does sound interesting .
