Post Police galore at Flint cruise last night.

No exciting police stories to tell. THey were there, so I avoided them. Waited till 3:30, went back, still po po, so I left.

The in between is that when I pulled into town, a bad ass looking GTX in front of me, with monster tires on the back, at least 30's. I grab the switch right away, and when we tirn the corner, I knew he would try something. So I pull up next to him, normal, and right as I get up to his door, he hammers it, & I floor it & hit the button, not missing a beat. He never knew what hit him, didn't spin at all, just shot forward like a bat outa hell.. Saw him again later in the night, & he didn't say anything.. It wasn't from a stop, so I'll mark up 1/2 kill for Black Sunshine..

Anyone else want some?

Just an idea fellas, but haven't you considered the fact that you are to blame for your police problem.

You come onto the internet, and post a street racing spot on the worlds largest F-body message board. I'm no genius but if I wanted something to stay quite I wouldn't plaster it all over the internet.

Maybe a billboard on 475 would work for everybody too.

ILLEGAL STREET RACING 2 MILES AHEAD

I'm no angel and I certainly never claimed to be, but the best way to keep a spot going is to keep it quite. Just the .02 from a guy who has seen a few things

I agree, please dont post the street names.

As far as the racing, it has already been talked about in Car Craft. So it's not the net that's drawing more attention to it. There are alot of guys who have been doing this for many years.

Tonight? One mustang down I guess he had a one count & go, because he was well out when I took off.. But reeled him in nice, & blew by. Of course, this was at the track...:

Around here, the cops weren't giving any grief at the hangout spot, though they did put a stop to the racing. IMO, I'd rather have a place for everyone to hang out, forgoing the semi organized street race.
But, as I found out last night, a couple of idiots can ruin it for everyone. Went out to the usual hangout, no secret as to its location, to find it nearly deserted. The cops were in and out of it letting people know there will be no more gathering there. Apparently the drinking and smoking of the non-tobacco items was to blame. Why the hell would someone be doing things like that in an already shaky situation?
The police had been content to pull over the exhibition drivers that got too crazy leaving the parking lot and left the rest of us that just hung out and talked cars alone. They even parked across the street in plain view and just watched.
Found out they have "plants" they are using now. Undercover boys with built up cars that hang out in the groups (sound like any movie seen lately? apparently the cops do watch those movies too kids) and record license plate numbers of those that do race. The next day you get served with a ticket or a wrecker bill as they tow your caw away to impound.
You boys in other towns might want to keep that in mind too, as it may be happening there as well....

The idea of using undercover police or even news reporters to scout out racing spots is nothing new.

Scott Lewis, Kevin Deetz, and a few others have made their living from catching people in the act of illegal activity. We have all seen it on the news, yet new people are still welcomed into the street racing enviroment and presume they are not cops or reporters.

For me it just isn't worth the risk. The track is only an hour and a half away.

Ya know if they took the money that the police and local news crews spend on their vigilante crime fighting tactics, and spent it on a race track they would be much better off.

I wonder if anybody in the City of Detroit's government has ever seen an NHRA, IHRA, or even NIRA race on television. You will not find a sport that has better behaved or more respectful fans than drag racing. Of course that is just my opinion, but everyone at the track respects the drivers and understands the risk involved. Not to mention the millions if not billions of dollars that professional drag racing brings in every year.

The way I see it you can kill two birds with one stone. Detroit can re-claim its position as a pillar of commerce and industry in America and they get us off the streets and onto the track. Although they could always build a another crime breeding Casino, those seem to go over real well in Detroit.

Ok rant over, now lets go racing

My brother said he went down to the Flint cruise with some friends Saturday night from 11-1:00 and said it was dead and all anybody did was hang out at Autozone. The best thing that happened all night was some drunk guy on a crotch rocket let my brother drive it cause he said he was going home. LoL. He didn't even know the guy.
