I have one through comcast and it rocks for the most part. They were slow to upgrade the actual modem when their older model became obsolete, but their customer service is decent, their prices are good, and their cable modems are fast as he!!.

dont know if its true but I was told by one of the telecom people at work that the cable modems go through satelites links.this is like a cordless phone where the airwaves are free domain and can be tapped.I believe the cable to be secure but I dont know.any comments from anybody?

They dont need to go through the air to be tapped, you can sniff the cable from any other computer thats on the same node.

I agree, stay away from comcast. They were much better when it was MediaOne. There rates suck, there service sucks, and there local phone service sucks too. Just try to get online in the middle of the day and you will see what I mean. I'm looking at Wide Open West right now and everything about it looks better.
