Temporary loss of radio signal

I have a '96 SS and when listening to the radio (stock) it will occasionally lose the signal of whatever station I happen to have on. After a few seconds, the signal comes back. This happens on both AM and FM. I can't discern a cause. It doesn't seem to be caused by rough roads or temperature, some days it won't happen at all, other days it will be a series of interruptions. Anyone have any idea what it could be or how I could diagnose it? BTW, I have the mechanical aptitude of a dead moose, and my electrical knowledge would fill this period.
Thanks in advance for what I should know before I take this in to some kind of radio shop.

Kind regards,
Tom Reynolds

Does the display go blank? Do your windows work when the radio goes out?

I think the display goes blank, then comes back to life. I haven't tried the windows when the radio signal gets lost, next time I lose the signal I'll try the window and let you know.

If the radio blanks & windows stop working, it's the body control module (BCM)

Well, I tried several times so now I'm pretty convinced that the windows still operate when the radio signal goes out. The display does fade, then comes back, along with the sound. Anyone have any ideas or similar experience?

Thanks,
Tom
