Airbag removal...

I want to remove my passenger airbag.

1. Is there any way, through program to eliminate the airbag code that will go off?
2. Will it disable the entire system?
3. Do I risk accidentally setting them off?

you can just put a resistor in the plug for the airbag, I'll try to get the resistance tommorow, the airbag controller will think there is still a bag in the circuit

Get outta here! That'd be sweet.
You don't think anything will deploy, do you?

You can put the resistor on the brown wire or just cut it and tape off the ends with electrical tape.(that's how I got mine to go off)

you should have no increased risk of airbag deployment with a resistor in the pass airbag plug, the controller doesnt know the difference

make sure you disconnect the batt about 10 min before disconecting any airbag connectors though

I should be able to get the resistance value tomorrow, I have a friend that works at a pontiac dealer

Hate to sound like Mr. Obvious, but why not just go ahead and pull the thing, test across the leads with an Ohm meter, and make a trip to Radio Shack?

I personally do not want to test across the leads of the detonator circuit of a live explosive charge

Even better yet, why not just BYPASS the entire thing all together

Do what I did, take all of them out, remove the airbag light outa the dash, sell the airbag's and buy go fast stuff

Thats my plan. How much did you get for your airbags? Is there a writeup on how to take them out? I have no idea where to start besides taking the dash off.

I got like $300 for both of mine.

No write up that I know of. Pretty much just pull the dash and rip them out Like I said, I just disconnected all the lil Air Bag computers and sold those too There's one in the passenger side behind the glove box, it's a square metal box. Then there's another one in the center console like right below the cup holder in the center console. Pretty much everything that had yellow connector's was all air bag crap. Then I just removed my air bag light so I didn't have to look at it being on.

Good to go from there

BTW that passenger side one was pretty heavy

When you pull the airbag put you need 1.6ohm of resistance to fool the computer into thinking the airbag is still there. I used two 3.3ohm resistors in parallel on my 2002.

When I traded this Z28 in they called me the next day asking for the airbag. Apparently they could only sell it wholesale without one and dealer cost was over $1000.

Been searching and can't find it.

How can I remove the passenger side airbag? I'm puttin 97+ dash in and I have the dash sitting right here and don't see how to remove it. I hear its like 8 bolts but or will the 97+ Bag work in my 95? Same Plug?
