trans temp

is it true you can tap into the transmission harness to get a temp reading? the guy that tuned my 95 t/a said it was

No direct answer, but some info.. I personally have not seen any products available. There are two lines that run from the PCM to the transmission Temperature Sensor. At the transmission connector pin 'M' blk wire is reference ground and pin 'L' yel/blk wire is a 0-5V signal to the PCM. Although the lines are there, I have not seen any external gauges that are available to directly hook up to the signal line. I have read in the truck towing forums that the location of the stock 4L60E PCM sensor is near the pan (not the hottest spot). A more desirable monitoring point is a manifold or 'T' fitting in the transmission output line to the cooler as close to the tranny as you can get. Some people have also used the pressure testing port above the linkage for a sensor mounting spot, but again that is not the hottest spot.
