Goin' to L.A.
Considering driving my Z to L.A. this winter but she's emissions free. In my county here in TX we have no emissions testing when getting an inspection, and there's no cat on the car. How does CHP or the local police know of such things if the car isn't registered or inspected in CA? There's no odor of unburned fuel out the tailpipe, but I have pacesetter long tubes that sound ornery with the cam in the LT1. Is there anything specific that draws their attention to emissions issues aside from stopping one for 95 in a 65 mph zone and doing a roadside inspection? Do they set up road blocks (for whatever reason) and check? I'm goin' for a short visit, spend my tourist $$$, and go home.

As long as you have "out of state plates" on the vehicle, the police can not inspect your vehicle for emissions. Just stay away from doughnut shops, and houses of ill repute and you will be fine.
