If you can beat the 33mpg I used to get on the highway, then do it. I could get 19mpg around town if I kept everything under control (namely, my foot). But, this was all in stock form, straight from the factory.

My 94 M6 with 3.73 gears gets 20 around town and 29 on the highway. This car is my DD so I will do a couple of more boltons, but that's it. But all things considered, you can't beat the mileage here. And I have 182k on it.
When I changed the gearing I did seafoam the intake and put new injectors in. I guess doing these things offset the gearing.

When I went from 245's to 275's, I saw about a 0.5 mpg hit, you can see my numbers in my earlier post.

1994 Z28, hooker catback & e-cutout before rear axle. 134k on the odo, definitely hasn't been babied before I got it... I get ~15mpg highway, don't drive in town that much.
