Whats the best choice for head upgrade?

Are Lt4s worth a look? Are they as good as the Edelbrock Performers?

Would help if you define your goals.

IMO the stock castings are probably enough. Guys are doing 450 to the rear wheels and better with good porting.

Re: Whats the best choice for head upgrade?

Sorry. We were discussing supercharging an LT1 with all internals stock on another board. Some of the guys thought the results of the bolt on s/c only were fairly modest, and not much better than a good cam and heads upgrade. The suggestion was LT4 heads(Corvette board of course). The goal would be to make an LT1 C4 Vette quicker in a straight line than a Z06 so I would be thinking close to 450 at the crank. So 150hp over stock.

I'm not a centrifugal SC guy so I'll let one of them come along and give you power numbers for guys running this kind of setup. I personally wouldn't want anything over 6psi of non-intercooled boost on the stock engine though.

All that said, and looking at your goal, this is overkill in a big way.

The stock heads with excellent porting and a very drivable cam in a 350 will put you over 400hp at the rear wheels. That should be enough power to put you in the 11's with a streetable suspension setup, good 60' times and full weight car.

Many of the C4's out there would see nothing but Z28 all the way down the track.

Sounds like you have a lot of reading to do, I have yet to see a single actual test(not Edelbrocks own data) that suggests the Performers would even be as good as LT4s. Then again as posted above the stock castings will do the trick nicely so why bother with either of the above.

Re: Whats the best choice for head upgrade?

Thanks guys! I just came out of the Adanced Induction Site and they pretty much reached my goals by porting stock heads. I was figuring the head upgrade and then the porting but based on this, who needs the LT4?
