Stock cam with Head Work
So im getting ready to rebuild my motor so i want to do a little head work while im at it but im not changing the cam yet so what should i do to my heads for it to run great with a stock cam ? like what exact work should i get done to them ?

I'm confused why you would want to invest in port work and stick with a stock LT cam. If it were me I probably wouldn't do much more than a little gasket matching if anything and save the money for when you decide to step up the cam. Just my two pennies worth though.

Who is building the motor ? Make sure you install ARP rod bolts and get the rods resized. Have the heads done by a competent shop and just get a racing/ performance valve job and up grade the springs. I like the comp 26918's. Use the .026" or .029" head gasket. Try Accurate Performance Machine in Las Vegas.

If the heads are off the car...send them to the machine shop and get a 3-5 valve angle job, new valve seals, and guides checked. Have good springs installed. Have them decked and install them with the GM Impala head gasket. Clean up the gasket areas (port match).
This will be a nice little bump in flow and will be ready for a cam swap (cc503), and a nice bump in compression.

im building the motor along with my dad
mechanic (40+ ase certified retired from team c in lakewood Ca)
i have all new head bolts rod bolts and i got some header studs i think
but im getting my work done in los angeles
at west coast machine shop. and all i was thinking was thinking more in the lines of
port and polish, performance valve job , and i have not found what push rods or springs im gonna
use yet but i was thinking of going with cosmetic gaskets but correct me if im wrong to use these gaskets.
also i was thinking of going with a tad bit bigger valves will this be safe ?
and for (cams maro) why did you put 4:10 gears in your basically stock car ? and not spend that money on a cam or a head job ? Its like asking a dog why he likes bones .

Check with Elliot Port Works and get the LE1.5 port job done to your heads with a matching cam I think it's about $1100 or so, this along with a rebuilt bottom end (use forged pistons and rods or rod bolts at least). You would have 375-400 rwhp if you have all of the boltons.
