I would go w/ the best price, don't think there's any difference in the two (performance wise). I remember back in the LT1 days the guys shy'd away from the SLP metal setup due to "heatsoak".

K&N is fantastic, be prepared for oil changes every 3 to 4 k miles

After you pull the old air system off you might do the throttle body bypass because it is right there.I mean right there.I think shoebox has a mod for this and it gives a proven 5 to 7 hp.Hope this helps. Also the air foil is good for 1-2 hp.I'm waiting for the holley air foil to come down in price(maybe black friday?).Dynoed a 5 hp. at super chevy magazine back in the day.I only say this because every time I want to do something,(coil mod ect.)I gotta pull everything out which means dropping the bottom panel under the car to disconnect the filter which is bolted on then put it all back together again.Sorry for the rant. It's all a labor of love my wife tells me.Anyway, hope this helps.
P.S. I would disconnect the negative battery cable and when you are done drive for about 50 miles or so without getting on it.That's way way I do it.My02.

You are removing the rubber elbow from the coolant connection on the passenger side/bottom of the throttle body. Also remove it from the steam pipe running from the back of the heads. Discard the elbow (or save if you plan to possibly install it). Take the rubber hose off the coolant connection on the driver side/bottom of the throttle body. Pull the end of the hose over to the steam pipe and connect it, using a hose clamp. Bleed any air out of the cooling system. Done.
While doing this, be sure not to spill coolant on the Optispark distributor. If you want to be really careful, drain some coolant out of the radiator, below the level of the throttle body.

You will gain about 6HP at the rear wheels.

The coolant is there to prevent "throttle body icing" in extremely cold weather. Unlees you live north of the Arctic Circle, this is not a problem.
