Re: Plz help 93 z28

The fans are not programmed to run after you shut down the engine.

There is a single fuse that supplies 12V to the control side of the two fan control relays, and a single fusible link at the red "+" box by the battery, that supplies 12V to the load side of the two relays. The late 94 models and up added a third relay, to control the fans in dual low speed/high speed mode. But your 93 uses two relays to control fan 1/fan 2.

But if your fans run correctly with the engine running (first fan on at 226*F, second fan on at 235*F) there is nothing wrong with the fuses or the relays.

Thanks.

Re: Plz help 93 z28

You would have to add an external switch so you could turn them on manually.

It's normal for the engine temp to rise when you first shut down the engine. Normally, it doesn't hurt anything. What is the peak temperature you see after you shut the engine down?

Not factory. No way of knowing what it is.

All engine temps rise immediately after you shut them off. Then, they cool. It's not going to hurt anything.

Totally off topic but what would cause a automatic 93 z28 to flood. I was told it could be the fuel regularor

Been playing with these cars since I bought mine new in 1994, and never heard of one that was set up from the factory to run the fans on when the engine was off.

This is Rob/Shoebox's Camaro/Firebird LT1 temp gauge visual.

The middle of the gauge is about 210*F. That's the normal engine operating temp. As long as it isn'[t going into the red, it isn't a problem. As noted earlier, with the engine running the first fan doesn't come on until the coolant reaches 226*F, and the second fan at 235*F. 235*-240*F is roughly the 3/4 point on the gauge.

All F-Body LT1's have aluminum heads. So do the Corvette LT1's. Only the Y-Body (SS/Roadmaster/Fleetwood) engines have cast iron heads. On the other hand, cast iron heads would be structurally more tolerant of very high temperatures than aluminum heads.

When I open the hood an were it tells you how to do the timing belt an acouple other things about the car it says that to be careful fans run when cars off. After driving it around when you shut it off shouldn't the fans come on to cool it,I could be wrong

Re: Plz help 93 z28

You would be better suited to find a manual for a 93 Z28. Your car has a timing chain. They do not have timing belts. Wait....are you referring to the routing of the serpentine belt?

Re: Plz help 93 z28

The label is generic. Probably used on every car GM makes.

Yes, as has been said several times. It's not a Honda.
