idle in gear, rpms climb.

i dont post much cause not normally any problems, but here it is. 94 z with 60k auto after it runs for about 30 min and i get to a stop light it will go from idling at 700 to about 1,000 to 1,200 the tach is a little twitchy when it does it. it drives fine i just have to make sure my foot is on the brake cause it wants to go at the light. i came to a light last week and a cop pulled up beside me then it revved up but there was nothing i could do,glad he had his windows up. also it runs a little hotter then normal and fans come on and off at 210 or so , it needs a flush ill do that today. what is my problem sensor, opti?? thanks

Re: idle in gear, rpms climb.

After it warms up do yo mean the car will never go below 1000-1200 RPM, or do you mean AFTER you come to a stop it will climb from 700-1200 as your sitting there? Getting a check engine light? Kinda sounds like the IAC is messed up, might want to try unplugging the battery and turning key to run to reset PCM so it can relearn IAC position. Sure all vacuum hoses are tight?
