bad starter

bad starter

When crank my car over now, even with a full charged battery, it just barely turns the motor. And starts smelling like burning wires. Is there a way to test if it's bad

You can remove the starter and have it tested at most auto supply stores. First thing is to make sure all your cables are clean and tight.

Sounds like the ignition switch if your smelling buring wires from under dash

well like shoebox said verify the cables are clean and tight and are not burned

It's often hard to see but the cables can be corroded on the inside, between the strands, raising the resistance. These cars are getting pretty old now and very few people actually change out the battery cables...
