Air conditioning problem. Pressure switch: good. Compessor: good. But still wont work
Been battling with my air conditioning for a couple months now, and it is royally pissing me off.
There is slow leak somewhere, but i cant find it yet
Anyway i use to be able to put a can of 134 in and it would blow cold for about 6 months....
...Now that time is down to hours. And lately i cant get it to work.
The pressure currently is good, has a full charge. but the compressor is not clicking on.
I tried jumping the red to grey wire on the low side pressure switch and then i reset to PCM. The fans for the AC came on, but the compressor did not.
So that means pressure switch is good right?
I jumped the relay for the a/c compressor and the compressor clicks on.
so the compressors works and blows cold air only when jumped
So whats keeping it from coming on when its in a normal setup?
I mean i fooled it into think the pressures it fine...what other switches/sensors are in the a/c system that would not allow it to click on?
Grrrrrrr
Thanks

If at any time the pressure switch tripped due to low freon, the pcm throws a code. This prevents the compressor from engaging until the code is cleared so you don't burn up the compressor. The code has to be cleared with an auto xray or other similar tool. Disconnecting the battery won't do it.
I found this out the hard way once. Same symptoms as you. Go clear the code and everything will start worjking again. But as soon as the pressure goes low again, that switch will have the pcm throwing the code again!

I use the battery method all the time to reset my computer and clear DTC engine codes. I know it resets anything relating to the engine and driving becuase everytime i do it i have to let it relearn the idle etc...
but your saying it does not clear the A/c codes?
