I guess that's not a bad price according to the Kelly Blue Book. The price was the same with the auto tranny as with the 6 spd. B4C is nothing more than a bigger alternator, other than that it's exactly the same as any other Z28 without the badging which I heard may help lower your insurance? Not sure about that but someone on another post mentioned it. Good luck!!

Suggested retail represents the price a dealership might ask for this make and model vehicle. This represents a fully reconditioned vehicle in excellent condition with a clean title history. This retail price is not a trade-in or private-party value, but rather assumes that a dealer has absorbed the cost of making the vehicle ready for sale, reconditioning, advertising, sales commissions, arranging for financing and insurance and standing behind the vehicle for any mechanical or safety problems. Many late model vehicles at this price have passed an inspection program or carry a warranty. Actual dealer selling price may vary from this price.

Unless the thing has been really beat on, it sounds like a good deal (if you can handle the mileage). An LS1 for $9K...

Besides, there's always a cult following for any B4C cars. If you take that vehicle to car shows, you'll get more attention and awards that you'd suspect. Not that the vehicle is any better than a normal Z, but people love fast cop cars and will flock around it.

Better insurance rates are a myth.
You can give your insurance company the VIN off of any car after about 1980 and they can tell you exactly what engine it came with. This car is no different.

I would buy the car. Theres no way around it the dealer suggested telling the insurance company that my car is a Z28 but they typed in the VIN and knew it was a SS giving me the privilege of paying $4k a year for insurance (clean record I am just young).

Doesn't matter to the insurance company.
LS1 is an LS1, same price. They don't charge more or less for police pkg, Z, or SS.

I don't want to start any wars but for full coverage it costs more to cover an SS because typically an SS is worth more and would cost the insurance company more if it were stolen.

Not true with my insurance company, Z28&SS are the EXACT same price for coverage.... Absolutely NO difference.....

The insurance prices should be the same between a Z28 and an SS. Your not insuring an "SS" your insuring a Z28 with the SS option. Take a look at your title it says Z28.

I'll leave the subject alone after this, it's not really worth arguing...
My insurance co. charges the same for both. I checked when I was car hunting.
Checked LS1 Firebird/TA... same.

I just bought 02 red b4c,leather, 12 disc changer, steering wheel controls, hurst 6 speed, 26,500 sticker for 24800 and financed it for 60months-0%. My insurance is $620 for a full year. I have clean record -32 years old, multi-car discount etc. the vin popped up as a Z-28 which did put it in the hi-performance class--still just a few bucks over my 98 bonneville for the year . good luck--them cars are usually abused but well maintained!

I am talking about FULL COVERAGE, the Corvette has a LS1 you think they charge the same for FULL COVERAGE on a Corvette as they do on a Z28, made my point. If you still think I am wrong, too bad because I am done here.

Geez, a Vette only costs about twice as much as an SS. In the Camaro arena the Z28 & SS cost the same to insure, and I'm talking FULL COVERAGE. YOU'RE WRONG! Click the image to open in full size.

It's a lack of understanding of how insurance works.
They could care less about making sure rates are adjusted perfectly for each and every customer's car. They just put car values in a range and make that range you fall into one of the very few deciding factors on your rate. The Z28 and SS values fall into the same range, the Vette does not. The Vette also has 2 fewer seats, which in the insurance company's eyes is a whole other ball of wax. They both have air bags and they both have the LS1, these are the only criteria that the ins. companies care about that are the same for F-cars and Vette.
Apples to oranges...
Dave
