T-Top Tech for 1978-1981

wondering if anyone has any installation pics or info on installing weatherstrip/clips/etc. when i got the car it was right after a new paint job and it was all stripped out. except for needing 2 of the 4 weatherstrip retainer clips in the corners, i think i have all the parts. i did a dryfit on the new 1 piece weatherstrip and come up with 2 concerns. the weatherstrip covered the retainer tabs (that hold the tops at the middle) and the other is the weatherstrip is so thick it doesn't allow the side window to roll up. any ideas????

I think the problem you'll find on this site is that 90+% of the members are probably 4th Gen owners. Some 3rd Gens, but very few members with 1st and 2nd Gens.

Re: T-Top Tech for 1978-1981

i would suggest t-top problems would be similiar for all generations. i just put on the replacement t-top weatherstriping which seemed to fit nicely but the problem is that it is so thick that the tops won't fit on it!!! the side windows won't roll up either because the weatherstrip is so thick. the weatherstrip is from NPD and they say it is an exact replacement. when i glued it down i clamps and dowel rods all the way around to squeeze it in, and clamps and small boards on the side to compress it against the pillars. anyone got any ideas??
