Stock seatbelt question.

Stock seatbelt question.
I just changed out my seats for a set of 1994 Firebird seats. The seatbelt holder on the headrest is a little different and causes the seatbelt to rub on my neck.
Now if I don't run the seatbelt through the headrest loop, will it still function the same in a crash? I don't want to be that guy in the obituatires who got decapitated by his seatbelt, or died from a malfunctioning seatbelt

Re: Stock seatbelt question.
That loop only serves as a guide and not a support in a crash. You could break that thing with your bare hands, and I doubt it will hold up to hundreds of pounds of pressure on it in the event of a crash.

Re: Stock seatbelt question.
If your guide is a soild piece, take a dremel and slice a line through it. Then slide your belt into it. I would not drive around with the belt laying over my neck. The last thing you want is a nice laceration across your trachea or cartiod. I'm an EMT and have seen seat belts slice through people, when properly postioned. By the way a seat belt is only designed to function on a dead on frontal crash (which are only, 8% of the time) and only up to a combined speed of 40 mph.
