LT1 or LS1...comparison
Moderatrors , sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure because it was dealing with 2 engines. I am in the markey to buy a 4th gen, my brother has a 94Z28 but has had all kinds of problems. What are the pros and cons of each engine/ drivetrain and overall build of the car? I am lookinging in the $11,000 dollar range and no more than 65,000 miles. Please any advice would be really helpful! Thanks in advance!

Re: LT1 or LS1...comparison
To sum up, LT1s are cheaper from the start and cheaper to mod. LS1s are more expensive from the start and costlier to mod. LS1s though are usually a full second ahead of LT1s in the 1/4 though.
You could buy any type of Z from 93-02 if you wanted. LS1s are highway maniacs and LT1s feel better down low.
At the end of the day, both are reliable. It all depends on if somebody has done the necessary maintenance before you buy it. The only slight disadvantage that the LT1 has is that it has an "optispark" which can fail if any water gets in it and it costs 200-300$. It is a somewhat common problem if your waterpump starts to leak or you spray your engine with water (which is a definate no-no on the LT1.)
Lastly, do a search. There are waaay to many posts for you to read on this.
